Mission:
To contribute to the improvement of the physical, mental, social, spiritual health and well-being of our Church members and community members through innovative health promotion and prevention activities that are tailored to the needs and priorities of the St. John's Seventh-day Adventist Church and community members. Goals:
To offer food preparation demonstrations for the congregation and community which can provide examples of recipes that are tasty, economical, and simple.
To conduct educational or health promotion activities targeted towards church and community members.
To seek and obtain funding and sponsorship for health promotion activities.
Highlights:
January/February 2007 - Approximately 45 church and community members attended the How to Be Pain Free Seminar. Many people expressed their appreciation for the program which promoted a drug free approach to pain relief. The Seminar was presented by Dr. Scott Brady(via DVD) from Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Dr, Brady encouraged the attendee's to look at not only the Physical, but the Mental and Spiritual solutions to our pain.
March 10th, 2007 - Saw our Church host the Forgive to Live Seminar. Dr. Dick Tibbets from Florida was our presenter in this what was a one hour forty minute program. The program was well attended with approximately 50 people in attendance. The program will be continuing over the coming weeks as we do group sessions.
